The leaflets spread by the activists read: 20,000 of our children have been killed so far in Donbass. Poroshenko and his government officials earn by dint of the war. So as long as Poroshenko is in power, the war will not end. Poroshenko and his henchmen plunder our country, make money on weapons, using which then kill our children and their own people!

The main demand of the protesters is to stop the war in Donbass. Women who lost their sons in the so-called antiterrorist operation (“ATO”) zone are sure that the war will continue as long as Poroshenko is in power. According to activists, the president and his team plunder Ukraine by warmongering.

Interestingly, three years ago, when the “ATO” was just beginning, the mothers of potential Ukrainian soldiers never protested against the war in Donbass. On the contrary, all women’s protests were related to the demand of purging operation in Donetsk and Lugansk and the supply of lethal weapons to the Ukrainian military. As coffins filled with Ukrainian soldiers’ and officers’ dead bodies have been regularly coming in the capital from Donbas, mothers came to their senses and began to oppose the war. “ATO veterans” who came to the building of the presidential administration joined the protesters and they all began to chant “Impeachment!”

However, there is no law allowing the legitimate “dismissal” of the president in Ukraine. But does it embarrass anyone? Once during Maydan in 2014, the same “peaceful protesters” demanded impeachment, and then they were shooting at Yanukovych. This scenario may possibly repeat itself.

Natalia Don, head of the movement and member of the Committee of Soldiers’ Mothers, considers that the Ukrainian authorities and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasily Hrytsak for some reason see in their movement “the hand of Moscow”. Apparently, those in power in Kiev believe that the real patriots will remain silent, whatever the authorities do with the country and its people.

The people are gradually beginning to understand that the so-called “revolution of dignity” was a political bluff which led Ukraine to a destructive civil war. Now the state, which is in fact under external control, cannot expect anything better. The crisis in the country is due not only to costly military operations, but also to poor management of the state system, which leads to an actual default, external economic and thereby political dependence. All this has transformed the life of ordinary Ukrainians into a desperate battle for existence.

While the degree of destruction and degradation of the state is steadily growing and moving to a critical level, the social atmosphere grows tense. But even if the situation in the state becomes threatening and the discontent with government come up ceiling, next coup will not take place without the will of external players who have their own idea in mind, which is far from Ukrainian national interests. It is possible that the patrons will have a desire to “renew their control of power” in Kiev again, entrusting it to a more effective figure. And the current president of Ukraine is very afraid of it.

Petro Poroshenko is trying to lead a “double game”, but it turns out badly. On the one hand, he tries to persuade the West that the Donbas region will soon ask to return back to his control, and that heavy military losses are not a defeat, but an innovative military strategy. On the other hand, he perfectly understands that it is high time the war finished. In any case, Poroshenko is unlikely to be able to keep his hold on power.

It is not easy to keep the power in a situation where crowds of armed aggressive radicals who have fought in Donbas present to the authorities an account of their “heroism” and assert their claims. Poroshenko has to solve an almost impossible problem: to disarm the battalions of thugs who do not obey anyone. Of course, he will seek to “distract” them with a new rush to the front.

All this scabrous political card game indicates that in the near future the Ukrainian people can expect neither positive changes nor stability.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte declared that Ukraine will “never” join the EU. According to Amsterdam, Kiev today needs to establish good relations with the EU and Russia. It is clear that after the April 6 referendum the Dutch society does not support the idea of Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

Kiev’s foreign policy is built on claiming that Russia is the aggressor. This idea helps Ukraine’s government to cover the flourishing iniquity and corruption in the country. Kiev just promises to bring the country to European standards. The Ukrainian mass media quote the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement that the Ukraine will not stop its integration into the EU. Kiev takes out European loans with no intention to ever pay them back. This is how the Ukrainian leadership acts in the framework of “European integration”. It is obvious that new insolvent state within the EU will cause new economic difficulties.

In an ill-conceived attempt to promote European values, Kiev increases the gap between the government and the Ukrainian society. For example, the majority of citizens reject the idea of LGBT support, but the country’s leaders persistently promote it. It is obvious that this is one of the issues that cause rising tensions in the Ukraine.

Moreover, Ukraine has an official conflict zone – two unrecognized republics of Donbass – which declared independence from Kiev. The country’s leadership has started military actions against its own citizens, bashfully calling them “anti-terrorist operations”; at the same time it declares that the Ukraine is at war with Russia.

Witnessing all of Ukraine’s problems, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte concluded that this country “should never join the EU”. It is worth noting that, unlike the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, who promised Kiev to join the EU “in twenty years,” Rutte used the word “never”. It is obvious that the Dutch Prime Minister expressed the attitude of the majority of his country’s citizens.

Moreover, no one should forget that the Ukraine and the EU’s rapprochement could affect negatively EU – Moscow relations. Neither Europe, nor Moscow wishes it to happen, no one but Ukraine. Anti-Russian sanctions have already undermined relations between Moscow and European countries, which resulted in economic losses on both sides. Today, Europe has a choice – either Russia or Ukraine. Apparently, the choice will be made not in favor of the latter.

Obviously, the citizens of the Netherlands are not interested in Ukraine’s joining the EU due to the fact that this would entail negative consequences for the whole Europe.

There is little doubt that the Ukrainian army command orders cause severe casualties among the country’s civilian population. Since the beginning of the military operation in the East of Ukraine more than eleven hundred people have been killed and nearly three and a half thousand injured according to the press release of the UN information center on the latest report of the monitoring mission of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. However, the Kiev government denies the accusations of recklessness towards its own people, shifting the blame on the self-defence forces of Donbass. Former Ukrainian acting Minister of Defence Mikhail Koval strongly refuted the UN information that air attacks and artillery bombardment of the Ukrainian forces resulted in large number of victims among the civilian population of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

Koval argued that “the Ukrainian army is forbidden to fire on cities”. He went on to say that: “The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine clearly defined the mission of the Armed Forces – in no circumstances use weapons against civilians. My subordinates and I are responsible for performing of this task.” However, hard facts attest to the opposite. In this regard, the Ukrainian military commanders are either hypocrites, or consciously violate the order of Poroshenko’s government.

Moreover, it surfaces that the Ukrainian army uses prohibited cluster munitions. Alexander Boroday, Prime Minister of self-proclaimed Donetsk National Republic repeatedly referred to this. The Russian Investigative Committee also confirmed this information. According to Boroday, Kiev’s security forces used the multiple launch rocket system “Grad”, aviation uncontrolled rockets with a cluster head, and other heavy weapons.

It is noteworthy that Ukrainian security forces receive the deadly cluster munitions from their overseas sponsors. According to the head of the press service of the self-proclaimed Luhansk National Republic, the Ukrainian army regularly uses the US-made shells. Kiev has not, to our knowledge, denied their use, but at the same time keeps quiet.

For the loss of innocent human lives and unprecedented human suffering of all the people of Ukraine – irrespective of language, religion, creed or political conviction – to stop, the recently agreed ceasefire agreement should be universally respected so that the ground is prepared for a political process to pacify the country.

In the course of the last couple of years NATO members on both sides of the Atlantic painfully looked for the right pretext to attach the coalition forces moved out from Afghanistan closer to the European borders of Russia and Belarus. Especially, Washington excelled in this search. NATO is for the US the main tool used to keep the American presence on the European continent and strengthen the so-called transatlantic relations that are critical to the US economy and its ambitions for global dominance.

Long before the Ukrainian crisis it was difficult for the US and its allies in Europe to explain why NATO decided to rapidly arm Poland, transfer its troops and weapons from Western to Central Europe and develop the concept of annual large-scale military exercises near the western border of the Collective Security Treaty Organization with the participation of Ukraine in the framework of the «Connected Forces Initiative». Now NATO seems to have а good motive for these activities. In a word, the coup d’ etat in Kiev and its consequences turned out for the US and the European countries just in time.

The new authorities in Kiev and certain organizations of the Western-sponsored ‘civil society’, which form the Ukrainian NATO supporters, were quickly disappointed with the position of the North Atlantic Alliance. On the one hand NATO accuses Moscow of agitating trouble in Ukraine, while on other hand it does not show any will to directly intervene in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The new Kiev authorities realized too soon that they must rely primarily on their own forces, the backbone of which are the Ukrainian security service, the police, the militants of the “Right Sector”.

As a result of this, the new Ukrainian government and its Western trustees, including the leadership of NATO, according to open media sources, has worked out a strategy, the main objectives of which appear to be:

i. Recovery with the assistance of Western consultants of combat readiness of the Ukrainian army and interior troops within sufficient timeframe to conduct punitive actions and deter Russia in conditions where the majority of local Russian-speaking population will ask her for help.

ii. Ensuring constant presence of NATO military contingents on the territory of Ukraine under the pretext of preparation and staging of exercises with the participation of Ukrainian army units.

iii. Make sure Ukraine joins in the regional defence initiatives of the Central and Northern European countries, which are not formally included in the NATO structures, but closely cooperate with the North Atlantic Alliance;

iv. Strengthen the military contingent of NATO along the western borders of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus with a focus on Air Force as well as Special Forces.

In order to achieve the above goals, it is planned to establish an expeditionary force, able in a short time to be deployed in the area of crisis.

Apparently, the future military doctrine of Ukraine, will have an aggressive anti-Russian character based on the hypothesis that the real enemy is at the Eastern and Southern borders, where Kiev should create a defensive infrastructure. Military units, located there, including of the Interior Ministry and the Security Service of Ukraine, will be formed in general on contract basis from among the nationalist-minded citizens of the Western and Central regions. They will also form the majority of the National Guard, which, if necessary, will be used to suppress any manifestations of discontent vis-a-vis the current government policies under the pretext of fighting against ‘separatism’.

From the above discussion it follows that high attention is expected to be paid to interaction between the special services of Ukraine and NATO countries. In the future, the joint activity of Ukrainian and Western special services may be the focal point of efforts of those members of the North Atlantic Alliance that are acting in line with the strategy of US neo-conservatives and the Anglo-Saxon camp as a whole.
